Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikry has been accused of using influence to protect his son from facing charges over attacking a law enforcement officer.

Mohamed Fauzan Farhad was allegedly intoxicated and attacked a law enforcement officer while being arrested on February 27, 2025. The deputy commissioner is accused of trying to bury the case.

Farhad has previously faced allegations of tampering with evidence in a rape case involving his son. In 2014, Fauzan was arrested for raping a 16-year-old minor and recording her nude images.

His phone was confiscated by the police for the investigation when Farhad was accused of tampering with evidence. Investigations proved that the deputy commissioner was the one who deleted the evidence on the phone.

This time, Fauzan and his friends were arrested for reckless driving and creating fear in Hulhumale'. The patrolling law enforcement officers had to work for 45 minutes before Fauzan and his friends could be stopped.

During the arrest in February 2025, Fauzan assaulted a police officer. He was reportedly intoxicated at the time and refused to provide a urine sample when summoned to the police station.

A senior police officer went to meet Fauzan while he was under arrest. He, then, agreed to provide a urine sample. But the results were negative for any kind of illegal substances.

The police officers who arrested Fauzan alleged that his urine did not test positive for drugs because Farhad used his influence to falsify the results. Fawzan and his gang members were not taken to court for remand. Police allege that this was also done through Farhad's influence.

Police towed a motorcycle in the case. The vehicle had the wrong number plate. However, Farhad allegedly used his influence to secretly remove the vehicle from the tow yard.

Farhad was appointed as the Deputy Commissioner in the government of President Mohamed Muizzu. The former government decided to dismiss him from the police force.

Farhad was the first to be appointed as the acting police commissioner after former police commissioner Ali Sujau resigned earlier this year. However, he was stripped of the position within hours.
