Maafushi MP Hussain Riza Adam has resigned from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Adhadhu understands that Riza had submitted the resignation letter, but the reason for his decision is unclear.
Riza was the Chairperson of the JSC. Following his resignation, the commission's Chairperson position will be vacant.
The ruling People's National Congress (PNC) lawmaker was appointed to the JSC as a representative of the People's Majlis.
Supreme Court Justices Husnu Suood, Azmiralda Zahir and Mahaz Ali Zahir were removed from office after Riza became the JSC Chairperson.
They were removed after the top court accepted a review of the constitutional amendments to chain MPs to their respective parties.
