The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) spent MVR 1.2 million on various trips last year.
The Audit Office released the ACC's 2024 Compliance Audit Report earlier this month. It shows that the ACC spent a total of MVR 47.7 million last year.
MVR 1,262,203 was spent on travel. However, the locations and purpose of the trips were not included in the report.
The largest expenditure, amounting to MVR 33.9 million, was on staff, while MVR 7.3 million was spent on running the office.
ACC has long been accused of not working enough despite a big annual budget. These concerns were raised in the parliament too.
MPs especially noted that the ACC and the Audit Office fail to look into corruption allegations against those in power.
