The government has forced participants of a ceremony to take off their coats because President Mohamed Muizzu attended without wearing one.
The incident occurred at the opening ceremony of the Principals' Seminar at Crossroads Maldives on Saturday.
Muizzu attended the ceremony as the chief guest, but he was not wearing a coat. It is unclear why the President was not wearing a coat for an official event.
A participant of the ceremony confirmed to Adhadhu that Muizzu was not wearing a coat, but the majority of participants were in official attire.
The source said senior officials of the Education Ministry ordered participants to take off their coats and hang them on the seats.

Photos publicized by the President's Office show coats hanging on the seat, while a few female participants continued to wear the coats.
In addition to attending the opening ceremony of the Principals' Seminar, Muizzu opened a campsite for school children at Crossroads on Saturday.
Most of the attendees at the event to open the campsite were also in official attire or wearing coats.
But Adhadhu understands that they were ordered to take off their coats and store them in a room before the event began.
