The Elections Commission (EC) has publicized the voters' list for the referendum to divide the Addu city council.
The voters' list was publicized today and the deadline for submitting complaints is 3:00 pm tomorrow (October 12).
The complaint form is available on the EC website and office. Complaints should be submitted to registration@elections.gov.mv.
The referendum was announced by President Mohamed Muizzu to divide the Addu city council into separate councils for Hulhudhoo, Meedhoo and Feydhoo.
The people in Meedhoo and Hulhudhoo has the option to choose a combined council or joint council for the two islands.
The vote will be taken on October 25 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm among the people of the southern city. Vote counting will begin 30 minutes after ballot boxes are closed.
The cabinet approves the referendum on October 5 after claiming that some people of Addu want separate councils for their islands.
