The southern city of Addu is facing power cuts again due to an issue with a generator.
Fenaka Hithadhoo branch has been sending power cut notices since September 23. The state company said this was due to technical problems.
The city had been experiencing frequent power cuts since last year, with most of the fasting month of Ramadan in March spent without electricity.
The government said they were working to resolve the issue, but no progress has been made so far. Fenaka refuses to disclose the reason for the frequent power cuts.
An investigation by Adhadhu found that old generators were bought to resolve electricity issues in islands across the country, including Addu.
But Fenaka has not revealed whether any action was taken in connection with the purchase of worn-out generators.
