The Tourism Employees Association of Maldives (TEAM) has shown solidarity for Maldivian journalists.
In a post on social media X, the association said it was deeply concern by the "rushed implementation of the Media Control Law."
"Our members stand in solidarity with Maldivian journalists for press freedom," the association added.
The post contained photos showing TEAM members holding a banner and posters in support of press freedom.
The government has faced condemnation from the international community following the ratification of the draconian law.
The UN Human Rights Commissioner called on the government to repeal the law and uphold the right to freedom of expression.
The UK, US, Canada and the European Union (EU) had also expressed concern, Reporters Without Borders (RSF), Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) slammed the restrictive law.
