Club Maldives Futsal: 93 teams gear up for big showdown

Club Maldives, the nation’s longest-running futsal organizer, has officially launched off its 2025 season, featuring a record-breaking 93 teams across six big tournaments.

The action begins on 30 August with the Kings Cup.

This year’s calendar introduces two new formats alongside the traditional competitions, a reimagined Kings Cup and the brand-new Sector League.

The Kings Cup, previously a single match between the Resort Champions and Club Maldives Cup winners, has expanded into an eight-team contest. The new format welcomes champions from leading futsal tournaments nationwide, setting the stage for an intense battle.

The Sector League, scheduled for October as the season’s grand finale, will bring together 16 private-sector companies in a bid to fuel corporate engagement in futsal.

The Club Maldives Classic, returning in September with 32 teams, remains a cornerstone of the season, celebrated for its fierce competition and role in elevating player performance.

The Club Maldives Cup, the country’s most prestigious futsal title, will see 16 top squads go head-to-head in late September, with many teams strengthening their rosters with foreign signings from Portugal, Iran, and Kyrgyzstan.

Women’s futsal will also take center stage, with the Eighteen Thirty Fiesta hosting four teams and the Eighteen Thirty Classic, a second-division league with 12 teams, offering a clear pathway for rising talent.

In total, nearly 200 matches will be played, with more than 1,300 players taking part, making the 2025 Club Maldives season the largest and most electrifying futsal spectacle in Maldivian history.
