Infrastructure Minister Abdullah Muththalib has said that the 4,000 flats included in the Gedhoruveiya housing project launched by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration are of good quality and the contracts for the flats will be signed and handed over starting next month.
In an interview with Public Service Media (PSM), Muththalib said, "The people are getting good quality housing that is completed and satisfactory for a good living condition."
"I hope to be able to sign the agreement and hand over the apartments in July. We will not hand over all the apartments at the same time, but will continue the handover as the work completes."
Based on the progress of the work, 4,000 flats will be handed over by September, he added.
"We are hoping that by the end of September, we will be able to hand over the 4,000 flats to the recipients and they will start living there," Muththalib stated.
He said that the work of connecting water, sewerage and electricity to the flats will be completed as soon as possible in collaboration with State Electric Company Limited (Stelco) and Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).
