Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel has condemned the April 22 terrorist attack on Pahalgam in Indian-administered and expressed support towards India's efforts against terrorism.
The government condemned the attack at a meeting held during Khaleel's ongoing visit to India. The government has previously condemned the attack as well.
At the second meeting of the High-Level Core Group between the Maldives and India, Khaleel expressed support for the Indian government's efforts against terrorism.
"He expressed Maldives’ solidarity with the people and Government of India and its firm support to India in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," the Indian External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
India accuses a terrorist group backed by the Pakistani military of carrying out the Pahalgam attack in which 26 people were killed. In retaliation, India attacked some parts of Pakistan.
Pakistan retaliated with attacks on Indian territory. At least 51 Pakistanis were killed in the exchange of fire between the two countries. Eleven of them were soldiers. Twenty-six Indians were killed in Pakistani attacks. Five of them were soldiers.
