Boatmen have protested at the Hulhumale' Jetty area due to difficulties in using the lagoon.
They protested on Sunday morning against the closure of the area between the ferry terminal and the FSM shed in Hulhumale' Phase 1. They said it was done without consulting the boatmen.
A boatman told Adhadhu that the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) had closed the area and banned boats from entering.
However, when the protest started, HDC employees went to the area and held discussions with the boatmen.
"We told them to show us a space to bring the boats closer. Then the HDC officials came and took away some containers and made space," the boatman said.
There have been several protests in the past over the difficulties faced by boatmen in using the Hulhumale' lagoon.
