Russia has become the second-largest source market for the Maldives tourism industry.
For the past month, the UK was in this spot with 89,694 tourists. But Russia has replaced the UK with 91,668 tourists.
In the first week of this month, 2,881 tourists arrived from the UK and 6,283 tourists arrived from Russia.
Statistics show that 15,131 tourists arrived from the UK in the first two weeks of last month alone, indicating a drop in UK tourists.
The biggest source market for the Maldives is China with 97,219 tourists. China was the biggest source market last year as well.
The number of tourists from the UK has decreased despite a major promotional campaign launched by the government.
A three-year deal was reached with Liverpool FC in March to promote the Maldives as an official tourist destination.
