An inquiry is underway after a police officer allegedly assaulted a minor in Raa Meedhoo island on Thursday night.

In a message to the media, police said the off-duty police officer advised a group of minors for disorderly conduct, but the boys refused to obey him. share their personal information and stop making excessive noises.

They were ordered to appear at the island's police station after refusing to provide personal details, but one of them assaulted the police officer. Police said an investigation was underway into the assault.

The police have also launched an inquiry as the boy's family alleges that the police officer assaulted the child. The Professional Standards Command is conducting a review of the police officer's actions.

The video of the incident has been circulating on social media. It shows a policeman trying to take a boy away, but he refuses and throws the policeman to the ground. The policeman then shoves the boy down and stops him from moving.
