The Local Government Authority (LGA) has urged councils to cooperate with investigative agencies.
LGA urged councils to cooperate fully with investigating agencies and not to interfere in fulfilling their legal responsibilities.
"We urge councils to assist the investigating agencies in fulfilling their legal responsibilities and to comply with the instructions issued by these agencies," the LGA said.
LGA made the request after receiving complaints that some councils were not cooperating with the investigating agencies.
The authority expressed concern over complaints that councils were not complying with the laws.
The statement comes amid allegations that the Gaaf Dhaal Thinadhoo council was not cooperating with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Thinadhoo council accused ACC of entering the council office and stealing items. The council said this caused a disruption in services.
