The Democrats have elected Imthiyaz Fahmy as President and former Ungoofaaru MP Mohamed Waheed as Vice President.
The decision was announced at a meeting of the party's National Assembly on Sunday night.
The party's electoral committee declared Imthiyaz and Waheed as the new President and Vice President without a vote because they were the sole candidates.
The committee's decision was passed unanimously by 34 members who attended the National Assembly meeting.
The posts became vacant after former President Hassan Latheef and former Vice President Mohamed Shifaz resigned to join the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Former Madaveli MP Hussain Firushan was appointed as the interim President until the election of the new President and Vice President.
