The Maldives High Commission in the UK has deleted a post on X after it revealed that the High Commission staff renovated its visitors' room ahead of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's private visit to the UK in November.
President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed visited the UK from November 21 to November 29. The President's Office and the Foreign Ministry did not release details of the unofficial visit.
But more than a month after the trip, the official X account of the Maldives High Commission in the UK posted about the renovation of the visitors' room in preparation for President Muizzu's visit.
The post included a photo of President Muizzu with High Commission staff, but it was deleted shortly afterwards.
Some people criticized the government following the post. However, it was deleted before it was widely shared among social media users.
But screenshots of the post have been circulated with some people mocking the High Commission by labelling the renovation of the visitors' room as the Commission's biggest achievement in 2024.
