Male' Maldives; National Athlete Aishath Himna Hassan is awarded the Bank of Maldives (BML) Sports Scholarship.
BML partnered with the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) to select the recipient of the year-long sports scholarship.
The MOC opened the application process to its member associations, and after reviewing the submissions, they chose athletics prodigy Aishath Himna Hassan as the deserving recipient of this prestigious scholarship.
Himna will start her year-long track training at the renowned high-performance SprinTec Track Club in Jamaica.
Himna, a former record holder of the Maldives National 100m women’s sprint, has been training in Jamaica in recent years after receiving the Maldives Olympic Committee's Paris Olympic Scholarship.
As one of the brightest prospects in Maldivian athletics, she has excelled in national competitions and significantly boosted her career through international participation, consistently improving her timings.
In celebration of BML's 40th anniversary last year, the bank awarded sports scholarships to seven athletes. The recipients included athletes from various disciplines, such as athletics, table tennis, tennis, and badminton.
