The Guesthouse Symposium 2024, organized by the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB), kicked off today at Crossroads Maldives with 100 guesthouses.
The symposium is open to those involved in the rapidly expanding guesthouse industry in the Maldives and other related sectors.
At the opening ceremony, MIB CEO and MD Muffadal Idris Khumri said the symposium was a good opportunity to network for the guesthouse industry.
"It is a pleasure to hold such a symposium. In addition to the guesthouses, 75 representatives from the industry are participating in the symposium. The panel discussions will benefit them," he said.
Khumri said while tourism is the biggest income-generating sector in the Maldives, guesthouses have created more jobs for the people on the islands.
Panelists, including experts from various fields related to the guesthouse industry, will be featured during the symposium.
MIB said the symposium will be a path to promote the guesthouse business and promote sustainable business practices.
