Pending payments owed by the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) to various parties exceed MVR 871 million, the agency has informed the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The PAC sought details about NSPA’s outstanding payments over a letter sent to the committee last year by the ADK hospital, the largest private hospital in the country, MVR 144 million owed for services provided and billed to Aasandha and NSPA.
At the PAC’s request, NSPA provided details about payments pending as of November 17, 2023.
According to the information read out by the committee’s secretariat, NPSA owed MVR 871,976,442 to the government and private vendors by that date.
NSPA was established on August 27, 2008. The agency manages the national health insurance scheme and conducts programmes planned under the social security law.
