Police have launched an investigation after a social media user insulted Islam on X.
A post by X account "Aishath Nazhaa" on International Yoga Day insulted the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage.
"It is okay to circle around a rock, bend towards it and kiss it, but yoga is forbidden!" the post read, insulting the Ka'aba (House of God) in Mecca.
In a message sent to the media, police said the post insulting Islam on X had come to their attention and an investigation was underway.
The account is no longer visible on X. It appears that this is due to a large number of people reporting the account.
The event to celebrate Yoga Day in 2021 was forced to stop. Those who acted to stop the event include senior officials and MPs of the current government.
