Some 790 students submitted applications to change from schools in the atolls to schools in the Male' region for the new academic year that begins on May 26, the Education Ministry has said.
Statistics published by the ministry yesterday show that 2,290 forms were submitted to enrol students in the first grade in Male' schools. There were 1,450 applications to enrol students in other grades.
In addition, 660 forms were submitted to change students between schools in the Male' region.
The deadline for applications to transfer or newly enrol students in public schools in the Male' region is 2 pm tomorrow. The ministry said it will reply before May 13 to forms submitted within the specified period.
According to the revised academic calendar, schools will open for the new academic year on May 26 and the first term will end on September 26.
The second term will run from October 6 this year to March 6, 2025. Students will have the annual school holidays from March 9, 2025, to April 3, 2025.
