With just 75 percent of the eligible voters casting their ballots, Sunday's election for the 20th People's Majlis saw a record-low voter turnout.
According to provisional results, only 75 percent of the voting population took part in the polling to elect 93 MPs to the People's Majlis.
A total of 284,663 people were eligible to vote, but only 215,860 exercised their right.
Statistics show that in the 2009 parliamentary election, 166,105 out of 212,559 eligible voters turned out to vote. That is 78.15 percent.
In 2014, 240,653 people were eligible to vote, out of which 189,642 people or 78.80 percent cast their ballots.
For the 2019 parliamentary elections, voter turnout was 81.32 percent. That is 215,053 out of 264,446 eligible voters.
