Asian Telecom Awards: Dhiraagu wins broadband telecom company of Maldives award

Dhiraagu has been named the broadband telecom company of the year for Maldives at this year’s Asian Telecom Awards.

The Asian Telecom Awards recognize the achievements of the region's communications industry and the progress made by companies in building a modern digital environment.

Dhiraagu received the award in recognition of its efforts to provide high-speed mobile and fiber broadband services in an island nation like the Maldives.

On receiving the award, Dhiraagu CEO and MD Ismail Rasheed said the award reflects the company's relentless commitment to providing high-speed internet.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their trust in us and for remaining in our network,” he said.

Dhiraagu has provided 100 percent mobile 4G services to 187 inhabited islands, all resorts and industrial islands.

During the past year, Dhiraagu also expanded fiber-to-the-home internet services to 94 percent of households and 5G services to 50 percent of the population.

Last week, the company won the 'Maldives Fastest Mobile Network' award for the third consecutive time at the Ookla Speedtest Awards.
