A speech-to-text software that will revolutionize judicial services was launched on Saturday.
The statements made during hearings are currently audio recorded and the statements are then written down by administrative staff. It usually takes half an hour to manually type a five to seven minute recording.
A decision was made in 2021 to find an innovative solution to the problem.
"Keyli" is a software developed by a team of Maldivian developers over three years. It was launched on Saturday by Chief Justice Muthasim Adnan.

With the introduction of "Keyli" speech-to-text software, the time required to transcribe recordings will be reduced many times over.
Courts will be able to handle statements on a day-to-day basis and it will also provide a solution to the problem of delays in trials due to unwritten statements.
Statistics show that 1,597 hours of statements had to be transcribed in 2021 and 2,354 hours of statements had to be transcribed in 2022.
