Janah appointed as Tourism Special Advisor of UNWTO

Tourism and construction magnate Mohamed Ali Janah has been appointed as the Tourism Special Advisor of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

He was appointed to the post by UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili during a ceremony in Madrid yesterday.

In a post on X, Janah thanked the Secretary-General and said he would do his "best for the organisation and its important work globally."

Janah is also a Principal Advisor to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Trade and Investment.

He is an expert in the construction and tourism industry in Maldives who has worked on 52 resort projects.

With over 30 years of experience in the construction and tourism industry, Janah has been working to attract foreign investors to the Maldives.

He is a key partner in realizing the million-dollar investments of world-renowned brands such as Soneva, Four Seasons and Shangrilla and is a partner of one of the world’s most exclusive resorts, Waldorf Astoria.
