The Arab Contractors Group from Egypt has expressed interest in the project to connect Addu's Hithadhoo and Hulhumeedhoo, the government announced today.
The Economic Council discussed the proposal as the company had expressed interest in the Hithadhoo-Hulhumeedhoo bridge, the President's Office said.
"As the company has indicated that they would do the bridge survey without any charges, the Economic Council decided to continue the work in consultation with them if they are willing to do the survey for free," said Abdulla Nazim, the President's Office Secretary for Public Policy.
During the presidential election campaign, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited Addu and pledged to begin the bridge project within his five-year term.
MVR 30 million has been budgeted for this year for the survey of the bridge connecting Hithadhoo and Hulhumeedhoo.
