MVR 100 million loans for women empowerment in business will be announced soon, Minister of Social and Family Development Dr. Aishath Shiham has said.
Launching the Hiyala Weekend Market, which is part of the government's roadmap for the first 14 weeks, Shiham said the government wants to find cheap and easy options for women to sell their homemade products.
"I assure you that two key pledges made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will be fulfilled soon. The MVR 100 million loan for women will be disbursed soon. At the same time, a special loan for providing financial assistance to small businesses will be introduced," she said.

Highlighting the opportunities and benefits that the Hiyala Weekend Market will open up for women entrepreneurs, Shiham said the market will benefit their families as well as the entire society.
The Hiyala Weekend Market is established in Hulhumale'. The market will be held every weekend from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Container Park area. There are 10 stalls in the market. Each stall is rented out for MVR 300 for the weekend.
