Mohamed Shahid, who worked as a consultant at the Male' city council when President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was the mayor, continued to work for the council and billed for payments after his appointment as a minister at the President's Office.
Questioned repeatedly on the issue by Adhadhu, Shahid said he had asked the council to cancel the invoices.
Payments have not been made for the invoices, Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh, who is currently in charge of the city council, also told Adhadhu. The agreement made with Shahid was terminated when he was appointed to the President's Office post, Nareesh said.
However, he continued to do the council's work.
According to invoices obtained by Adhadhu, Shahid billed the city council for work done in attendance at the council between November 20 and December 20 after the current administration took office.
He billed the council for MVR 30,000 for work done in-person at the office on all working days during the period except for public holidays.

- Reviewing parking building drawings with developers
In addition to this work, the invoice submitted by Shahid to the city council also included a lot of other work.
Some councillors and the mayor-elect have also expressed concern about President's Office ministers continuing to do city council work.
