Dr. Zulfa appointed Local Government Authority CEO

Dr. Mariyam Zulfa was appointed as CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA) on Tuesday.

Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar confirmed the appointment to Adhadhu.

Zulfa joined the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) last month after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu won the election.

Zulfa was previously a member of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and served as Tourism Minister in the cabinet of former President Mohamed Nasheed. After Nasheed's government ended, Zulfa left the country and lived overseas.

She pursued higher education in law, urban planning and business.

The appointment comes seven months after the resignation of former LGA CEO Afshan Latheef.
