A Sri Lankan national drowned in Noonu Maafaru Island on Saturday.
Police said the deceased was a 35-year-old Sri Lankan man working on a landing craft.
He died after drowning while trying to remove a rope attached to the vessel, police said.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning.
The man was pronounced dead when he was taken to the Maafaru Health Centre.
