Hassan Mughnee, former managing director of the State Electricity Company (STELCO) and State Minister for Environment, has been removed from the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) less than three days after his appointment.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed Mughnee to the seven-member PCB last Thursday, according to a statement by the President's Office.

But Mughnee's name was missing from the list of board members posted by the PCB on X on Tuesday after President Muizzu reconstituted the board last Sunday.

Together with the President, Vice President and five members representing five sectors, the PCB has seven members.

The reason for the President's decision to remove Mughnee from the board remains unclear. But the decision has drawn criticism from government supporters.

When Adhadhu asked about the reason for Mughnee's dismissal, President's Office Communications Minister Ibrahim Khaleel said he would find out and comment later.
