An out-of-court settlement has been reached to pay MVR 2 million as compensation to the new government's Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen over his dismissal from the Island Aviation Service.
Ameen was formerly the director of flight operations at Island Aviation. He was sacked in June 2019.
The Civil Court ruled in Ameen's favor when he filed a lawsuit over wrongful termination.
Island Aviation appealed the judgment at the High Court. According to the High Court's judgment on Sunday, the case has been concluded after the dispute was resolved out of court.
It was agreed to pay MVR 2,202,580.02 as compensation, which was back pay owed to Ameen from his dismissal to the the date of the settlement agreement, the judgment stated.
The Civil Court had also ordered Ameen to be reinstated to the same post or a job at the same rank and paid the amount owed as salary and benefits from the date of his dismissal.
