Maldives has signed more than 100 agreements with India in the last five years, President's Office Under Secretary for Public Policy Mohamed Firzul said Sunday.
Speaking at the first press conference after the swearing-in of the new government, Firzul said the 100 agreements signed in the past five years do not include agreements on projects and works to be implemented in the Maldives.
“Among this number, I would like to note that more than 100 agreements have been signed with India in the last five years, excluding agreements for implementation of projects. I note that this is a large number," he said.
Firzul said the government would study all the agreements, adding that it would take time to complete all the agreements.
“We will disclose the sovereignty-violating provisions in the agreements, however, these will include various military technical details, which in itself will be related to national security, timelines on how to conduct military, for example, specific training, such details will certainly become part of national security information that should be withheld or kept secret,” he said.
