The largest number of tourist arrivals during the month of October was recorded in October this year, the Tourism Ministry's statistics have shown.
The latest figures from the Tourism Ministry show that 159,141 tourists visited last month, up 3.5 percent from October last year, which previously held the record.
The current period is the high season for the Maldives tourism industry.
Tourist arrivals during the first eight days of November were also higher than previous years.
With more than 41,000 tourists so far this month, record arrivals are also expected in November if daily arrivals continue at the current rate.

Russia, India and China remain the top markets for tourists to the Maldives this year, followed by the UK and Germany in the top five.
Total arrivals so far this year stands at 1.56 million tourists, an increase of 12.8 percent from last year.
