Container fees reduced by 25 percent at regional ports

The Maldives Ports Ltd (MPL) has decided to reduce the fee charged from containers sent to regional ports in the atolls from the Male’ commercial harbor or the Hulhumale’ international terminal.

MPL said in an announcement on Sunday that handling and wharfage charges for containers as well as Stevedoring and handling charges for empty unloading have been reduced by 25 percent. The company has been billing at the lower prices since last Friday, the announcement noted.

The change in tariffs enables businesses that transport goods to Kulhudhuffushi and Addu to offer lower prices.
