MIRA collects MVR 1.6 billion as revenue in August

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) collected MVR 1.6 billion as revenue in August.

According to statistics released by the tax authority on Tuesday, revenue fell 7.7 percent below forecasts but was up 17.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

GST receipts accounted for the majority of tax revenue last month. The MVR 943 million collected as GST represented 59.12 percent.

Income tax was the second largest source of revenue with MVR 189 million, followed by MVR 87.7 million as departure tax and MVR 69.5 million as green tax.

Non-tax revenue included MVR 90 million as airport development fee, MVR 51 million as tourism land rent, MVR 46 million as work permit fee and MVR 27 million as quota fee.
