Urbanco and the Ministry of Youth and Sports signed an agreement today to allocate land in Thilafushi to develop a motor sports arena.
Managing Director Ahmed Athif signed the agreement on behalf of Urbanco whilst Deputy Minister Azmoon Ahmed signed for the Youth Ministry. Racing Association President Mohamed Shamih took part in the ceremony.
The arena will be developed in Thilafushi phase two with 10 hectares of land designated for the project, Urbanco said.
Speaking at the ceremony, Athif said the project would enable racing in a track developed to international standards, noting the difficulties faced in racing in Hulhumale'.
Racing Association President Shamih said the project would provide adequate space for youth and that the arena could also be used for motor sports other than racing.
