Rules have been amended to allow any agency designated by the government to issue the registration of residential land.
The new rules were published in the government gazette on Friday. This comes as the government prepares to hand over registration documents to the recipients of land in Hulhumale', Gulhifalhu and Giraavaru lagoon under the Binveriyaa housing scheme.
"[The land registration issuing agency] is the city council, or the agency in charge of the matter or an agency appointed by the government," the amendment stated.
Some basic requirements for issuing registration under such a project were also changed. The size of the land and the name of the island should no longer be included when issuing such a document.
However, the new amendment also states that the permanent registration of the land should be issued to the person when the land is allocated under such a housing project.
Under the Binveriyaa scheme, 1351 plots in Hulhumale', 2219 plots in Gulhifalhu and 5433 plots in Giraavaru lagoon will be given to all eligible applicants.
