The Netherlands' CMC-Boskalis joint venture company has assured that the reclamation of the Giraavaru lagoon will be completed by October.
CMC-Boskalis Joint Venture Project Manager Hugo van Kuijl said the reclamation work would continue 24 hours every day. He assured that the 169 hectares of land will be completed by October. The work began in May this year.

The 5,433 land plots to be allocated in Giraavaru under the Binveriyaa housing scheme which is being developed by the Fund Management Corporation, require 73 hectares of land.
State Minister for Housing and Chairman of Binveriyaa Committee, Akram Kamaluddin said that as promised by the President, all those who got land under the scheme would get the registry before the end of this presidential term in November.
"Now they are doing the reclamation work. The President has promised to identify the plots before November 11 and give the land registry to every landowner," Akram said.

The 9,003 plots to be allocated in the first round under the scheme include 1,351 plots in Hulhumale', 2,219 plots in Gulhifalhu and 5,433 plots in Giraavaru lagoon. Around 26 hectares of land is required in Hulhumale', 42 hectares in Gulhifalhu and 73 hectares in Giraavaru.
