The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is preparing to launch the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service in Addu city.
An MTCC media official told Adhadhu today that the company has been preparing to offer the service in the southernmost atoll. An awareness session to provide information about the RTL ferry service has also been conducted in Addu, he said.
The service will begin after the Planning Ministry determines a launch date, the official noted.
"The ministry will decide a date to start the service. We're getting ready," the MTCC media official said.
The RTL ferry service was launched in the northernmost atolls of Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal and Shaviyani atoll before expanding to Lhaviyani, Gaaf Alif and Gaaf Dhaal atolls. The government contracted the MTCC in January 2021 to carry out the first phase of the nationwide ferry network project.
