Former President Abdulla Yameen has asked his Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) to boycott the presidential election.
Yameen sent a note with the request to the PPM leadership after the Supreme Court ruled that he is ineligible to contest the election.
The note was sent through Yameen's lawyers. The PPM senate is due to hold a meeting at 1:30 pm.
Adhadhu understands that the PPM leadership is currently working to verify the credibility of the note.
