The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation on Wednesday contracted an Indian company to build 4000 additional housing units in Hulhumale'.
The project, which is to be carried out in two phases, was awarded to Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL).
The company was contracted to build 2000 housing units in 37 months under the first phase. The total cost of the project is USD 165 million (MVR 2.5 billion), according to the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation.
The first phase includes 1400 units with three bedrooms and 600 units with two bedrooms, the corporation said.
Managing Director Salfiyya Anwar signed the agreement on behalf of the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation. Sarvajit Singh, KPIL's country head in the Maldives, signed on behalf of the company.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony at the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation.
Most of the concrete work on 4000 housing units under construction by the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation in Hulhumale' is now complete.
