A barge loaded with aggregate for the Fuvahmulah coastal protection project ran aground a reef on Friday.
Fuvahmulah city council's media official told Adhadhu that the barge which ran aground was loaded with aggregate to be used for the project.
The barge ran aground in the project area while waiting near the entrance to the cargo unloading dock, the official added.
"Now efforts are underway to move the barge," the official said.
The official stated that additional information will be provided by the MT Hojgaard company which is tasked with the project.
But the MT Hojgaard company declined to comment.
MT Hojgaard, a Denmark company, was contracted for the coastal protection project of Fuvahmulah city.
