Saudi low-cost airline Flynas has begun commercial flights to the Maldives.
The first Flynas flight to the Maldives landed at Velana International Airport on Tuesday morning. The airline was welcomed with a water salute.
Flynas will fly between Riyadh International Airport and Velana International Airport three times a week - Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The airline uses an Airbus 320 Neo with a capacity of 170 people for flights to the Maldives.

Tourism minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom and senior officials of Flynas attended the event to mark the airline's first flight to the country.
Mausoom said the Saudi market is important for the country's tourism and that discussions were underway to arrange Flynas flights to other airports in the country.
Aleidi Abdulelah Sulaiman M, Vice President of Flynas Sales, described the launch of direct flights to the Maldives as a major milestone in the airline's expansion plan.
In addition to Flynas, Virgin Atlantic is also planning to initiate services to Velana International Airport this year.
