Criminal Court on Monday sentenced a man to four months in prison for stealing seven sea cucumbers from a storage facility.
The man from Raa Dhuvaafaru island has a previous conviction on similar charges. He was sentenced to four months and 18 days less than two years ago.
On Monday, he was found guilty for a second time after confessing to stealing from a sea cucumber facility on the island.
The prosecutors sought a six-month prison term in the fast-tracked case, but the judge sentenced him to four months and 24 days.
He was detained for a little over 24 hours for the investigation, so the judge ordered to deduct that period from the sentence.
