Male’ city council has awarded an accolade to Champa Brothers for providing assistance to the people living in the city.

Champa Brothers handed over 10 tons of watermelon and coconuts to distribute among the people living in Male’ during the fasting month of Ramadan last April.

The city council said it distributed over 50,000 coconuts and 4650 watermelons.

Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu awarded the accolade to Champa group founder Mohamed Moosa ‘Uhchu’ on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Champa group made a donation worth MVR 1.17 million (USD 76,224) to Haa Alif Hoarafushi International School.

Moosa is a well-known philanthropist providing long-term assistance to some causes and institutions. He provides regular assistance to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Moosa is the owner of Crown and Champa, one of the wealthiest groups in the country. The group operates 10 resorts with about 2000 employees.
