President gets full authority over leasing of uninhabited islands
The People’s Majlis passed a bill granting the President authority to lease uninhabited islands and lagoons for up to 50 years. These lands can be used for tourism, industry, and agriculture by local and foreign entities. Ministries must report all leasing details to the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Auditor General’s Office.
