MDP extends National Council term until next party congress
The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) unanimously voted to extend its National Council's term until the next party congress. Elections for the council must now be held within 30 days of the congress and no later than January 31. This resolution, proposed by Fayyaz Ismail, overrides a failed bid to hold elections earlier this month.
