Maldives to open waters for gas and mineral exploration
The Maldivian government has authorized the exploration of natural gas and minerals within its maritime zones. A new legal framework and licensing system will be established to regulate extraction and ownership. Since the country lacks the necessary technical capacity, foreign corporations will be invited to assist in these efforts.
