Activist climbs up Vilimale’ banyan tree to halt its removal
Environmental activist Ahmed Niyaz halted the removal of a banyan tree in Vilimale’ by climbing into its canopy in protest. The tree is slated for destruction due to claims of structural damage to nearby homes, a move opposed by conservationists. Police removed Niyaz after he descended following negotiations.
